Hello, my name is Roby Castelluccio and I am a junior. This is my first year on Help Desk. A few of my interests are basketball and soccer which I play varsity for and have played ever since I was young. Other than sports, I have had some experience working hands-on with landscaping and the restaurant business. I have had some experience with the restaurant technology playing around and getting comfortable with the software we used to use. The reason I decided to join Help Desk was so i could help others and become more comfortable with the technology, especially with the new addition of Chromebooks to the freshman class which could help me in the future. My career interests would be to become an electrician or an entrepreneur focusing more on the business side of things. Technology is pretty much used in most jobs today and with my interest in careers, specifically becoming an entrepreneur, requires technology, some examples are creating websites, blogs… etc. ,so i’m hoping to learn more about technology and software so that it can help me out in the future. I am looking forward to this class and learning new things.
Weekly Reflection- Through the first few weeks we have learned a lot about the different types of technology used in help desk. For example, we played around a bit with Baxter seeing how his features worked. Also, we worked with the A.R sandbox testing out how the different features worked. Virtual reality was also used, something I am somewhat familiar with. In all I have learned a lot more about what help desk has to offer, and new technology that I have never been familiar with before.
Weekly reflection- Our main focus was working with drones, to get familiar with drones we have worked with a small drone from brookstone, this's drone helped us get used to the controls a little bit. This drone wasn't really that great, it was hard to control it and would undergo problems a little bit. To get more advanced Mr. Wong bought his own drone which was definitely a lot better than the brookstone drone, this drone had some features that allowed us to capture very clear video and pictures. This drone is also able to fly 400 feet in the air. Controlling this drone was a lot easier than I expected, the drone was very smooth and it is pretty hard to lose control of it. Once becoming more comfortable with it I was able to adjust the camera so that I could take pretty clear pictures and videos.
Weekly reflection 3/27/19- Throughout the week we have got familiar with drop mix, a game that ranges from $40.00 and can be higher ranging to about $100.00. This game requires card packs that do come with the game when bought, while other card packs can be bought separately. These cards can be placed on the drop mix to make different sounds such as music, beats, or instrumentals like a guitar or drums, etc. I found it very interesting because you can mix and match different cards, and also combine cards to make sounds that appeal to you. The options are varied and have many different genres of music with a wide variety of different instrumentals or beats. Also, coding with the drones was introduced through work bench education. You can code the drones with different commands such as go forward, backward, up and landing. This can help stream a sequence of events for the drone to perform different movements and could even be used for the drone to complete and obstacle for example.
